Many pet owners prefer using our services as it avoids putting pets in kennels or catteries.

How much they need depends on the breed, age and health of the dog. If a dog is bored, under stimulated or lonely they can cause absolute havoc in your home, digging, barking, chewing, the list could go on.

Our dog walking service will take away some of the frustrations your dog may be suffering from.

If you are out at work for long periods, maybe you are elderly and can not get around quite as easily as a few years ago, or maybe you just haven�t got the time to give your dog all the exercise he needs.

Dogtopia will give your dog the required amount of exercise you desire (minimum 1 hour walk) at a nearby park or wooded area.

Pet feeding
When you have to go away for a few days or maybe you are off on holiday for a few weeks you have to take care of your animals. How? Do you put your cat / cats in a cattery, away from their natural environment, do you rely on the neighbours to feed them?

We will come to your home, feed your cats, clean out their litter tray, change their water for fresh, let them in or out, infact we will open and close your curtains, water your plants, pick up the post and any other little jobs that give your house that �I�m in� look.

Our pet feeding also extends to rabbits, ferrets, rats, birds, hamsters, fish and any other small animal you may own.

Pet Sitting
Some pets just do not like being left alone for too long. Have you got a dog that cries when you pop out for the evening. Maybe you have been invited to a day at the races, but knowing you will be away from home for hours on end is worrying you. Don�t let it.

Maybe you have just bought yourself a puppy and you don�t like to leave him home alone at such a young age.

Dogtopia will come to your home and sit with your pet whilst you are out, we can exercise your dog or just let him sleep contently, knowing that he is not alone.

Pets 2 Vets
Everyone needs to see the doctor at sometime. That �sometime� is not always the most convenient time.

Is your vet appointment at a time when you just can not get away from work? Maybe you haven�t got a car, so you find it difficult to get to the vets.

We will collect your pet from your home, take him in to see the vet and bring him home again.

Also available, transport to and from the grooming parlour, cattery and kennels.

Are you going away for a week or two or just overnight? Kennels are ok for some dogs, but some just do not settle and whilst you are away having a lovely time your dog just can�t wait to get home again. Dogtopia offers you a home boarding service for your dog/s. Your dog will stay with us in our home and live inside with our own dogs (so must be sociable). He will get daily walks and all the love and cuddles he would normally get at home. All you have to do is supply his bed (or some kind of comforter) and his food. Before any bookings are confirmed we ask you to come around to our home so you can see where your dog/s will be staying and you and they can meet our own dogs. Once you are happy to book the boarding we ask you for a small deposit to secure your dates. We are fully insured and police checked and are licensed by Thurrock Council to house dogs.

There are many benefits in microchipping pets.
All microchips come with their own unique ID number. The number on the chip is entered into a national database. If your pet becomes lost, any animal hospital, shelter or humane society can use a microchip reader to identify the unique ID number contained on the chip. When the number is entered in the database, it matches the unique ID number to your personal information (name and phone number) so your pet can be returned to you.

The microchip is very small and is injected with a needle. It feels about the same as a vaccination. It is a permanent method of identification. The microchip will stay with your pet for life.

Microchip identification information can be easily updated. The information is kept on a database, it is a simple matter to update your details whenever you move or your number changes.

There is less chance that someone will steal your pet. As a microchip is a permanent record that the dog belongs to you, there is less likelihood that someone will be able to get away with stealing it.

There is less chance that you will lose your pet. When a pet has a microchip, it increases the chances of your pet being returned.

Microchips cannot be removed, unlike conventional engraved ID tags that can be removed and even tattoos can become illegible over time, a microchip is a permanent method of identification. When you consider that this microchip stays with your pet for life, it is a very inexpensive method of identification.

Microchip identification may save your pet�s life. If a pet ends up at an animal shelter, it will stay there for a certain period of time before it has to be put down. However, if your pet has a microchip identification, then the contact details will be retrieved and your pet will be returned.

The procedure is simple and painless for the animal and requires no anaesthetic. The microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, is injected under the skin, a lot like a simple vaccination.

When your dog is ready we will take them to the wedding photo location, whether it is at the church or else where.

Take a Test Run: If you're getting married in an unfamiliar place, take your pet there a few times before the wedding so they get used to it. They should not be seeing the place for the first time on your wedding day.

Training Half Check Collar
Half check collars are a very happy medium in the quest to train your dog to walk nicely on a lead.

More general information on Dog Tags:

A dog tag, pet ID tag, or pet tag is a small flat tag worn on pets' collars or harnesses. Humane societies and rescue organizations recommend that dogs and cats wear these tags, which contain information to enable someone to contact a stray animal's owner. Some people object to pet id tags because of the jingling noise they make as their animals move. A collar-mount tag, which is riveted, flat, to a collar's surface is silent and therefore avoids this problem. Other people use a tag silencer to enclose the loose tags in a small neoprene pouch. The resemblance of human identification tags to this method of display led to human tags being called dog tags, such as the metal identification tags worn by members of the US military on a chain around the neck; see dog tag (identifier).

Identifying information on a dog tag might include: On a license tag, the dog license number and contact information for the licensing organization On a pet ID tag, the pet's name, owner's phone number(s), address, or both, a reward offer, and a list of the animal's critical medical problems On a microchip registry tag, an identifying number for the dog with a phone number for the registry. Some organizations recommend not putting a pet's name on an ID tag because, in an ownership dispute over a stray dog, the original owner could use the pet's name to demonstrate that the pet recognizes the name and therefore has an association with that owner. Others believe that a lost pet might feel more comfortable if strangers call it by its own name, so the name should be on the tag. Also, if a stray dog slips out of his collar, or is skittish, there is a greater chance of controlling him if his name is used.

Materials Tags are made of a variety of materials. Metal tags usually have their information embossed or engraved onto, or stamped into, their surfaces. The characters created by embossing or engraving are made by removing some of the tag's surface and are not as deep as stamped characters, which are made by stamping the tag with a metal die. The most common metals used for pet tags of are aluminum, stainless steel, and brass. Aluminum is the least durable of the three. Plastic chips can be etched or printed, come in many colors, and are often highly reflective to make the dog more visible if it gets loose and runs into the street after dark. Effectiveness In this age of mobile phones, pet ID tags showing the pet's owner's landline and cell phone numbers make it easy for someone finding a stray pet to contact the owner. Microchip implants, registering the dog's license number, microchip information, and tattoo number with lost-pet registries are good backups to identify stolen pets or strays found without ID tags.

A dog collar is a is a piece of material put around the neck of a dog. A collar might be used for control, identification, fashion, or other purposes. Identification tags and medical information is often placed on dog collars. Collars are also useful for controlling a dog manually, as they provide a handle for grabbing. Collars are often used in conjunction with a leash, and a common alternative to a dog collar is a dog harness. Dog collars are the most common form of directing and teaching dogs.

Basic collars Buckle collars, also called flat collars, are usually made of nylon webbing or leather (less common materials can include polyester, hemp, or metal) with a buckle similar to a belt buckle, or a quick-release buckle, either of which holds the collar loosely around the dog's neck. Identification is commonly attached to such a collar; it also comes with a loop to which a leash can be fastened.

Flea collars are impregnated with chemicals that repel fleas. They are usually a supplementary collar, worn in addition to the conventional buckle collar. Elizabethan collars, shaped like a truncated cone, can be fitted on a dog to prevent it from scratching a wound on its head or neck or licking a wound or infection on its body. Break-away collars look similar to buckle collars, but have a safety mechanism installed that allows the dog to break free of the collar if excessive force is applied. These collars are useful in situations where a non-quick release collar could get snagged and strangle the dog. Stud collars are leather collars fitted with dulled points and/or metal studs that traditionally prevented another animal from biting the dog's neck. In modern societies, stud collars are more commonly considered a fashion accessory.

Training collars Several types of collars are used for the purposes of training dogs, though sometimes a collar is not used at all (such as in the case of dog agility training, where a collar could get caught on equipment and strangle the dog). Each training collar has its own set of advantages and disadvantages (briefly outlined below) which trainers might consider before using a select one. Training collars are typically used for training only and not left on the dog's neck all the time.

Flat collars Some dogs are trained on leash using a buckle or quick-release collar.

Slip collars (also called choke chains, slip chains, or choke collars) are a length of chain or nylon rope with rings at either end such that the collar can be formed into a loop around the top of the dog's neck, just behind the ears. The ring which connects to the leash goes over the back of the dog's neck, not under. When the leash is attached to the dead ring the collar does not constrict on the dog's neck. When the leash is attached to the live ring the chain slips (adjusts) tighter when pulled and slips looser when tension is released. A quick gentle jerk with an immediate release, called a leash pop, snap, or correction, is used to alert the dog that it has done something undesirable. The reference to choking is due to the fact that slip chains typically have no limit to how far they can constrict on the dog's neck (versus limited slip collars which do have a limit to how far they can constrict). This name for the collar is deceiving however, as proper use of this training device not involve choking (strangling) the dog.

Prong collars (also called pinch collars) are a series of chain links with blunted open ends turned towards the dog's neck so that, when the collar is tightened, it pinches the naturally loose skin around the dog's neck. The design of the prong collar is such that it has a limited circumference, unlike slip collars, which do not have a limit on how far they can constrict on a dog's neck. Similar to the martingale collar, any pressure from the collar to the dog's neck is spread out over a larger area than with most buckle collars and with all choke chains. Prong collars can also be turned inside out (with the prongs facing away from the dog's skin), to function like a martingale. Rubber tips are occasionally placed on the ends of the prongs to protect against scratching or puncturing the skin, though it is difficult to actually puncture the skin using this type of collar, because of this spreading effect, the limited constriction, and the already blunted tips. Like the slip collar, the prong collar should be placed high on the dog's neck, just behind the ears. Some dogs can free themselves from prong collars by shaking their head so that the links pop out, so some trainers have come to use a second collar (usually a flat buckle collar) in addition to the prong collar.

Martingale collar Martingale collars are recommended for Sighthounds because their heads are smaller than their necks and they can often slip out of standard collars. They can, however, be used for any breed of dog. Their no-slip feature has made them a safety standard at many kennels and animal shelters A martingale collar has 2 loops; the smaller loop is the "control loop" that tightens the larger loop when pulled to prevent dogs from slipping out of the collar. Similar to a prong collar, the martingale has limited constriction on the dog's neck and applies even pressure.

Head halters Head halters, sold under the brand names Halti or Gentle Leader, are similar in design to a halter for a horse. This muzzle-like device fastens around the back of the neck and over the top of the muzzle, giving more control over a dog's direction and the intensity of pulling on a leash than collars that fit strictly around the neck. Pressure on this type of collar pulls the dog's head towards the handler

Controversy Proponents of the head halter say that it mimics the way a higher-ranking wolf shows dominance by grabbing a lower-ranking pack member around the snout with his jaws. Opponents of the head halter say that most dogs find it unnatural and uncomfortable.
